BUS REGULATIONS

The bus driver is in full charge of the bus and riders at all times. The children are responsible to him/her while riding the bus the same as they are responsible to the teacher while in attendance at school. Christian courtesy for fellow passengers and respect for the bus driver are expected from each child riding the bus. Children who misuse their bus rights will lose the privilege of using this means of transportation to get to and from school. Following is a list of school bus rules and regulations:

A.   PREVIOUS TO LOADING - (on the road and at school)

1.   Be on time at the designated school bus stops - keep the bus on schedule.

2.   Stay off the road at all times while waiting for the bus. Conduct yourself in a safe manner while waiting.

3.   Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before attempting to enter the school bus.

4.   Be careful in approaching the bus stops.

5.   Never move toward the bus at the school loading zone until the bus has come to a complete stop.

B. WHILE ON THE BUS

1.   Keep hands and head inside the bus at all times after entering and until leaving the school bus.

2.   Assist in keeping the bus safe and sanitary at all times.

3.   Remember that loud talking and laughing or unnecessary confusion diverts the driver's attention and may result in a serious accident. Do not visit with the bus driver.

4.   Treat bus equipment as you would valuable furniture in your home. Damage to seats, etc. must be paid for by the offender.

5.   Never tamper with the bus or any of the equipment.

6.   Leave no books, lunches, or other articles on the bus.

7.   Keep books, packages, coats, band instruments, and all other objects out of the aisles.

8.   Help look after the safety and comfort of small children.

9.   Do not throw anything out of the bus window.

10.   Never leave your seat while the bus is in motion.

11.   Horseplay, swearing, talking about school personnel, or general disorderly conduct is not permitted on or around the school bus.

12.   Be courteous to fellow pupils, the bus   drivers, and the patrol officers or   driver's assistants.

13.   Be absolutely quiet when approaching   a railroad stop.

14.   In case of a road emergency, remain in the bus.

15.   Remember, the bus driver is in complete charge.

16.   No smoking, scuffling, drinking, eating, or petting is permitted.

17.    SPECIAL PERMISSION MUST BE RECEIVED FROM THE PRINCIPAL BEFORE YOU MAY RIDE ON A BUS OTHER THAN THE ONE YOU ARE ASSIGNED TO.

C. AFTER LEAVING THE BUS

1.   Cross the road, when necessary after getting off the bus, at least ten feet in front of the bus - but only after looking to be sure that no traffic is approaching from either direction.

2.   Help look after the safety and comfort of small children.

3.   Be alert to the danger signal from the driver.

4.   The driver will not discharge riders at other places than the regular bus stop at the home or at school unless proper authorization is received from parent or school official.

BUS SERVICE - CONSEQUENCES FOR MISBEHAVIOR

Students who receive a bus conduct report meet with the principal. A second bus conduct report results in loss of bus privileges for three school days. A third bus conduct report results in a loss of bus privileges for five school days. If the behavior of any student endangers the safety of other students on the bus or causes damage to the bus, he/she will be suspended from riding on the bus. Suspension at the end of the year carries over into the next year.
